‘Unnecessary, needless, classless’ – Jose Mourinho blasted by former Chelsea star over Eva Carneiro row

first_imgCraig Burley has launched a blistering attack on Jose Mourinho over his treatment of Eva Carneiro and Chelsea’s medical staff. The Blues boss was visibly furious with club doctor Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn after they ran on to the field to give Eden Hazard treatment during Saturday’s Premier League opener against Swansea. It resulted in Chelsea being left with nine men temporarily and Mourinho publicly branded his medical staff “impulsive and naive” after the 2-2 draw, saying they did not “understand the game”.Carneiro has since been told she will have a reduced role, with the respected doctor banished from the bench on matchdays and restricted to working at the club’s training ground in Cobham.Mourinho has been accused of acting appallingly towards his medical staff over the matter, and Burley agrees – with the former Chelsea midfielder claiming that Portuguese coach has dragged the club’s name through the mud.“It is totally unnecessary, needless and classless,” the Scot said, speaking on The Sports Bar.“Chelsea should be bigger and better and Mourinho should be bigger and better at handling situations like this.“For goodness sake, talking about them almost costing Chelsea the game? No, what nearly cost you the game is your keeper making a bad decision, your defenders not defending properly. That is nothing to do with a doctor or a physio.“A particular individual or maybe two are going to get demoted in their job because they tried to do their job properly? If that is the kind of individual you are working for here, her and whoever else is on that staff must be thinking if that is the way they do business, I’m better off somewhere else.“Almost everybody apart from Chelsea fans will be rooting for Manchester City this weekend. That is the bottom line. That is the colour he [Mourinho] has painted on Chelsea this week with his actions.”last_img read more
