Originally published July 31. Update, Aug. 7: Adds clarification on Samsung tablet shipments for Q1 2019. 69 Photos 2:53 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 could be the fanciest Android tablet The Tab S6 targets mobile workers who also game. Sarah Tew/CNET The Galaxy Tab S6 is Samsung’s Android-based answer to the iPad Pro and Surface Pro (and the discontinued — but not discounted — Pixel Slate). As a premium tablet, the S6 has all the stuff you’d expect: A powerful new processor, a great 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display and quad speakers as well as a new pen and keyboard cover. But it’s all the little extras Samsung packs in that make it more than just another Android tablet. The tablet market in general is in decline but Samsung’s tablet shipments — Android and Windows — remain strong, coming in just behind Apple’s iPad shipments for Q1 2019, according to analyst group IDC. At least part of the slide is attributed to a lack of innovative features within the category, which is something the Tab S6 attempts to attack. The included updated S Pen stylus, for example, can be used as a wireless shutter release for capturing photos and video with the tablet’s dual rear cameras — a first for a Samsung tablet. The pen magnetically snaps strongly to the rear of the tablet for storage and to wirelessly charge it. Samsung says a 10-minute charge will get you through a day of use. The tablet cover also acts like a pen case. Sarah Tew/CNET A Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor gives the Tab S6 more than an 80% CPU boost and more than a 60% graphics boost over the Tab S4. The increased performance is better for day-to-day stuff, but you’ll also see the benefits when using DeX, Samsung’s desktop interface for Android, which makes it feel more like a PC.DeX goes hand in hand with the Tab S6’s new Book Cover Keyboard. A huge improvement over the S4’s keyboard cover, the new version adds a touchpad (DeX has mouse support), a row of function keys and a quick-launch button for DeX. It also has a free-angle kickstand so it can be used in more than one position. Along with working more comfortably, you can work longer. Samsung claims up to 15 hours of battery life and it’ll quick-charge through its USB-C port. The Book Cover’s kickstand lets you work at more than one angle. Sarah Tew/CNET Gaming on the Tab S6 with the Snapdragon 855 is also improved from the S4. A Game Booster with AI capabilities lets you optimize for smoother performance or better image quality on 16:10 2,560×1,600-pixel resolution display. Samsung also has an exclusive partnership with game chat platform Discord so you can live chat through the tablet’s Game Launcher app. There are a handful of other things, too, like the quad speakers tuned by AKG and Dolby Atmos and an on-screen fingerprint scanner for quick sign ins. Plus you can wake the table with two taps on the screen. About the only thing missing is a headphone jack. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 comes in gray, blue and blush. It’ll be available for preorder online at Samsung.com on Aug. 23 and available in stores and online on Sept. 6. The base Wi-Fi-only model has 128GB of storage (microSD expansion available) and 6GB of RAM for $650 or, for $730, you can get 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. The S Pen is included with both, but not the keyboard cover, which costs $180. An LTE version is expected later this year. 0 Tags Share your voice Now playing: Watch this: Post a comment Computers Tablets Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Samsung

Mirza Fakhrul Islam AlamgirTerming Rangamati gun attack a well-designed one, BNP on Tuesday said violence and criminalisation by miscreants is growing centring elections in the country for lack of democracy and atmosphere for credible polls, reports UNB.”Bangladesh has got affected with the disease of terrorism. BNP considers killing of any people in terror attacks is a hateful act. I think the attack on election officials at Baghaichhari is a well-planned one. I strongly condemn and protest the incident,” said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. In a statement, he also demanded the government identify the attackers and mete out exemplary punishment to them.At least seven people, including an assistant presiding officer, were killed and 13 others injured in a gun attack on a vehicle of a motorcade carrying election officials and law enforcers in Baghaichhari upazila on Monday evening.Fakhrul said ruling party men themselves are indulging in violence and killing for establishing their supremacy in the voter-less upazila elections.”The criminals in their localities got encouraged to grab power through the midnight ballot stuffing during the 11th parliamentary election,” he observed. The BNP leader also said the ruling party leaders are now in a competition of capturing local power through vengeful acts as they do not have any accountability to people. He also alleged that people are getting killed in different dangerous incidents as ruling party men has taken violence and hatred as their political programme.Fakhrul claimed that people did not respond to Monday’s second phase of ‘unilateral’ upazila election as they do not believe that any credible election can be held under the current government.”The current government has moved away from people’s confidence. A one-party rule has been the only means for the government to cling to power,” he said. The BNP leader alleged that the government is using the state machinery to eliminate the opposition. “The government wants to stay in power by creating panic among people and threatening them.”He prayed for salvation of the departed souls of the gun attack victims and wished early recovery of those injured.
In this file photo taken on 29 August, 2017, soldiers from the Japan Air Self-Defence Force set up PAC-3 surface-to-air missile launch systems during a temporary deployment drill at US Yokota Air Bace in Tokyo. Photo: AFPNorth Korea still poses a “serious and imminent threat”, Japan said Tuesday in its first annual defence review since an outbreak of diplomacy on the Korean peninsula.Japan’s 2018 defence white paper also took aim at China’s rise as a military power, saying Beijing was sparking “strong security concerns in the region and international community, including Japan”.Last year’s defence review was published at the height of the tensions with North Korea, amid nuclear and missile tests and US president Donald Trump threatening to rain down “fire and fury” on Pyongyang if it kept up its threats. But since then, a spectacular diplomatic detente has taken place, culminating in the historic summit between Trump and the North’s leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore on 12 June.Nevertheless, Tokyo insisted on Tuesday: “There is no change in our basic recognition concerning the threat of North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missiles.”Pyongyang continues to post “an unprecedentedly serious and imminent threat to Japan’s security and significantly damage the peace and security of the region and the international community”, according to Tokyo.Japanese defence minister Itsunori Onodera acknowledged in the document that North Korea had begun “dialogue” with former foes the US and South Korea.“But we cannot overlook the fact that, even to this day, it possesses and fully deploys several hundred missiles that put nearly all of Japan within range,” stressed the minister. In response, Japan is steadily upgrading its capacity to shield the nation from the North’s arsenal, including a plan to spend some $4.2 billion over the next three decades on installing and operating US radar systems.Despite the historic handshake in Singapore, there has been little progress in denuclearising the Korean peninsula and Washington-Pyongyang relations appear to have taken a turn for the worse, with Trump abruptly scrapping a planned visit to the North by secretary of state Mike Pompeo. The white paper also reiterated its worries about China’s increasing military spending and expanding naval ambitions. It complained that Beijing was trying to “change the status quo by coercion”, referring to such actions as building up disputed islands in the South China Sea and expanding naval activities around East China Sea islands in dispute with Japan.

The actor had tweeted on Sunday, urging state Education minister Partha Chatterjee to request the publisher to recall and replace the book.It may be mentioned that the state Education department has already identified the publisher as Anomy Publication, situated at 57/1A, College Street.
