Faculty members teaching in theDepartment of Focused Inquiry participate in shared curricula, withthe expectation that students across all sections of a courseachieve similar learning objectives. Primary teachingresponsibilities include instruction of UNIV 111, 112, and/or 200,which students are expected to complete in their first two years.This three-semester, interdisciplinary course sequence islearner-centered and promotes integrative thinking as well asstudent engagement, with a particular emphasis on written and oralcommunication, critical thinking, collaborative learning,information fluency, and ethical reasoning. All adjunct faculty areexpected to attend the full-day faculty development institute atthe beginning of each semester and to be available to studentsoutside of class via office hours (one hour for each 3-hour classtaught) as well as via email and other electronic communications.Adjunct faculty teaching in the Department for the first time areexpected to attend a weekly one-hour teaching practicum in theirfirst semester of teaching.*Please note that, at this time, we cannot guarantee theavailability of adjunct vacancies from semester to semester.However, we invite qualified applicants who are willing to acceptpart-time teaching work on an as-needed basis to apply.
